Introduction
The Manufacturers of intrigrated circuits (IC's) have an ongoing requirement to test both large and small quntities of their product to ensure that they meet specified electrical characteristics. To enable the semiconductor manufacturer to test each device and/or design that is made, test sockets are utilized to provide the means for a temporary connection between the IC and a computer mainframe which performs the tests, analyzes the data, and provides feedback. The ideal test socket will not damage or deform the IC leads, will not introduce and large-scale impedance to distort the test signal, and will be solderless, highly reliable and repeatable.

Tecknit test sockets are designed to address these fundamental issues. Specifically, Fuzz Button based sockets are low force (40 grams per position average), have a reduced signal path length (less than .150") for distortion free testing, are solderless, and highly reliable and repeatable (100,00 insertions minimum guaranteed).

Tecknit offers an easy to use, Interactive Test Socket Design Guide to easily indentify your required socket style, and to quickly generate your socket footprint drawing. Just have your package drawing available for reference and follow the simple prompts.

Hand Test Sockets
Tecknit Test Sockets are ideal for testing semiconductor packages in a laboratory environment. We offer several Hand Test Socket Styles, tailored to individual testing needs. Socket designs are available for IDS failure analysis testing (e-beam probing), device characterization, and system simulation. The main testing criteria for determination of the most suitable hand test socket designs are:

Production Test Sockets
Automated test of each semiconductor device requires mechanical handling equipment that delivers the device into a production test socket, so as to test each device prior to delivery to customers. Key attributes of production test sockets include features for aligning the handler to the socket, features to align the device into the socket pocket properly, designs that allow for easy replacement or upgrade of worn componenets and socket materials that can withstand various test temperature ranges. Tecknit offers Standard Production Socket Styles that meet these requirements, and that are typically geared for popular Delta design and Seiko Epson handling equipment. Custom production sockets for any other handler manufactures are available upon request.
