"FuzzProbe"
A NEW Product release for 2004
A new probe that encases Fuzz Button and Hardhat assembly in a plastic housing making it easier to replace electrical contact components from test socket.
No removal of test socket from PCB is nessesary.

Tecknit's "Tornado"
A NEW Heat Transfer Slide Lock Socket
In high-power IC devices thermal control is essential during testing to ensure accurate test results. Tecknit's new Tornado heat transfer socket is constructed of materials that have a highly conductive nature and used where convection cooling is needed for hot device applications. A built in fan and exclusive custom machined air channeling baffle plate generates a "Tornado" effect to remove heat buildup during testing. The sockets small footprint design and custom slide lock mechanism ensures quick load and release where board space is at a minimum. Get the power of the Tornado.

Fuzz Button Contacts
A standard Fuzz Button contact is a small electrical contact element manufactured from a single strand of fine gold plated Beryllium copper wire, which is die compressed into a cylindrical form. The resulting object is a solderless wire mass which exhibits excellent spring characteristics and electrical performance when compressed nominally 20% from its original length. High electrical performance characteristics are achieved from high current DC to microwave frequencies. Standard available diameters are .010" .020", and .040", with lengths available for aspect ratios of 8 to 1 (length to diameter).

Hardhat Contact Pins
"Hardhat" contact pins are miniature gold plated Beryllium copper pins utilized in conjunction with Fuzz Buttons to contact electrical pads or device leads. Typically, four point crown tipped hardhats are utilized to contact BGA solderballs, and serrated tipped Hardhats are utilized to contact the flat pads on an LGA device. Custom pins and tip styles, including concave, bullet nosed, or pointed tips are available upon request.

Test Sockets
Tecknit offers a variety of Hand Test Sockets geared for device characterization and laboratory test environments, as well as Production Test Sockets for automated test applications. All Tecknit test sockets are designed to provide maximum electrical performance, with high repeatability. Utilizing Fuzz Button Technology, these custom sockets are provided for BGA, LGA, MLF, CSP, PGA, QFP, SOIC, TSSOP as well as other leaded and leadless packages. Tecknit sockets offer solderless, interconnection between IC packages and test printed circuit boards. Our test sockets are targeted toward high-speed test applications to ensure reduced signal distortion, and virtually invisible interconnection.

Hand Test Clamp Overview
Fuzz Button/Hardhat Replacement Kits
Tecknit offers several hand test clamp styles to meet individual needs. The most economical hand test clamp is our standard spring version for packages with less than 200 leads. Our high-pressure hand test clamp, with an adjustable height feature, is designed for high pin count devices, up to 2000 I/O's. Our Cam-Lock hand test clamp, designed for minimum hand motions, is our most ergonomic design to 1000 I/O's. Other custom style clamps are available for smaller devices, with a low number of I/O's less than 100.

Coaxial / RF Connectors
Tecknit manufactures custom high frequency coaxial and RF connectors utilizing FUZZ BUTTON TECHNOLOGY. Typical designs can incorporate a single or multiple Fuzz Buttons of known diameter, acting as a center conductor, located within a known diameter of Teflon dielectric. This Teflon/Fuzz Button combination is press fit into a conductive grounding medium, typically aluminum, resulting in an electrical connection of known impedance. Connections designed in this manner have been tested to frequencies above 20 GHz, with negligible loss and/or signal distortion.

Custom Board to Board Interposers
Custom interposers are machined or injection molded plastic carriers with Fuzz Buttons located in all required interconnection locations. The interposers can have minimum contact pitches to 0.5 mm (.0197") with varying Fuzz Button diameters as required. They can also be supplied with or without Hardhats depending on the type of contact surface or the number of insertions required. Click here to enlarge Photo
